Johnson County Bus Services: Disabled Access

All vehicles are wheelchair-equipped to accommodate disabled commuters. Many buses are able to lower at the curbside. Ask your driver for accommodations.

Catch-a-ride

Catch-a-Ride is a volunteer transportation service that provides rides for older adults, people with disabilities and other adults who have no other means of transportation.

Ridekc taxi

The RideKC Taxi regional pilot voucher program provides taxi services to residents of Johnson County. Fares are paid using electronic fare cards. Anyone 65 and older and/or with a disability, and living in the service area, is eligible for this program with application approval. Each one-way trip costs $5.00 and is good for up to 10 miles. Riders are responsible for fares beyond 10 miles. You are allowed 10 one-way trips each month.

Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) provides facilitates, career and personal development for Johnson County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. JCDS also serves as the Community Developmental Disabilities Organization (CDDO) for Johnson County.  JCDS offers a single point of entry for those seeking Developmental Disabilities services, determines eligibility for services, and coordinates a network of over 90 Johnson County providers.

senior nutrition centers

The Area Agency on Aging provides nutritious meals at six Neighborhood Centers in Johnson County. In addition, Neighborhood Centers offer a variety of services, activities, and educational programs for older individuals in the community. A hot noon meal is available for anyone age 60+ and their spouse. Neighborhood Centers are open Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The Gardner Neighborhood Center is located at the Senior Center at 128 E. Park St.

Multi-Service Outreach Centers provide a safety net for those in need and a means of moving beyond cycles of aid into self-reliance. The Gardner-Edgerton Multi-Service Center provides Outreach Services to individuals and families in need living in the Gardner/Edgerton School District. The Center is located at 510 W. Main, Suite #D. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Clients are seen by appointment only.

Johnson County Mental Health Center offers a wide range of mental health and substance abuse services to residents.
