Where does my water come from?
The water source for the City of Gardner is Hillsdale Reservoir. This source will provide water for future growth needs.  The Hillsdale Water Treatment Plant was constructed in 1998 and updated and expanded in 2006. Facilities are capable of treating up to 4.0 million gallons of water daily. Water travels through transmission mains and then to service lines to households and businesses throughout the community. The City stores more than 3,000,000 gallons of water in both above and below ground facilities. Equally important to water availability is the quality of water. To increase the quality above required standards, the City has constructed looped lines within the system to increase water flow and recently installed new filtration system at the Hillsdale Water Treatment Plant. Fifteen random water samples are collected monthly from different locations throughout the community. Samples are analyzed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, ensuring the quality of water and compliance with state and federal regulations.
