New to Gardner in 2017 will be the Smoke on the Trails BBQ Competition.  This Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event will take place on September 29 and 30, 2017 at Celebration Park.  This is a qualifying event for the American Royal World Series of Barbeque competition and the Jack Daniels World Championship for 2018.  BBQ teams will check in Friday during the day and begin to set up their camps.  Friday evening the general public is welcome to come out and hang with their friends and families for the evening from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Live bands will be on site to keep the party moving and a kid zone will be provided for the youngsters.  A Beer Garden will be provided for the adults to enjoy responsibly Friday evening as well.  Formal BBQ judging will begin on Saturday and a total purse of $10,000 will be on the line for teams participating in the categories of chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.  Top 10 in each category will be awarded.   

PARKING:  Cars can be parked at Celebration Park, however once it fills, overflow parking will be available in the Pioneer Ridge Middle School parking lot, just south of the park.  Parking is free.

Date      Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30, 2017
Time      BBQ Teams can check in beginning at 9:00 a.m. on September 29 and all teams must be
      checked in by 3:00 p.m. 
Location      Celebration Park, 32501 W. 159th St., Gardner, KS 66030 
Cost      $185 per team  All teams will be provided (1) 20 amp plug. (Power spaces now full)
      $150* per team (No power provided spaces still available) (Non-power spaces now full)
      No fee for general public to attend.   
      NOTE: There will be a limited number of over-sized spaces. Reserve early!
      Please also know that we can accommodate up to 44 teams with power in the main lot. 
      Six additional teams will be able to access power on the grass next to the main lot and  
      *any teams in excess of 50 will be accommodated, without power, in the park on an
      adjacent lot.
