Message from Chief Pruetting

Welcome to the Gardner Police Department website and thank you for your interest in learning more about our department.  Our mission is to protect and serve all persons with courtesy, respect, and fairness, and to hold ourselves accountable for providing the highest quality of police service in the performance of our duties. We recognize that we are first and foremost a service organization, and we are committed to serve with honor and integrity.

Over the past year, our department has made significant progress in our efforts to better police the city and engage our residents. I changed our deployment model to put more officers on the street during peak call-for-service times and created a bike squad to provide a police presence in areas like Gardner’s trails and greenway that are not easily accessible by vehicle. We’ve also added a police K9 team that will greatly enhance our narcotics detection and enforcement capabilities. Our outreach efforts include a stronger social media presence, increased attendance at church and neighborhood functions, an online crime map, and online forms to make it easier to report traffic issues and suspected narcotics activity.

I am honored to serve as Gardner’s Police Chief and to lead a group of men and women dedicated to maintaining a safe community for all of Gardner’s residents and visitors. Our success as a police department is contingent upon the support and participation of our citizens, and we are committed to doing our best to strengthen that partnership. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or another member of our department if you have a suggestion on how we might better serve the Gardner community.

Chief Jim Pruetting
