The primary objective of the Women's Self-Defense Workshop is to educate and inform our female participants about how to avoid becoming a victim of crime and to provide hands-on self-defense training. Participants will learn about situational awareness, victim avoidance strategies, simple body mechanics, human vulnerability points, improvised weapons and how to use physical aggression to defend themselves in the event of an attack.
The workshop will be taught by the police department's certified defensive tactics instructors. The self-defense portion of the workshop will be truly "hands-on," conducted on gym mats and utilizing strike bags, strike dummies and a strike suit for the training. At the completion of the course, participants will be given a certificate of completion and will be invited to participate in other functions hosted by the Gardner Police Department.
