Property Tax Collection
Johnson County is responsible for collecting all property taxes for the City of Gardner.

Property tax rates are based on mills and are assessed through a mill levy. One mill is equivalent to $1 for every $1,000 of assessed property value. To calculate your estimated property tax bill, you need to know the appraised value of the property. The appraised value is then multiplied by 11.5% for residential property, or 25% for commercial property to determine the assessed property value. For example: a house that appraised for $100,000 would have an assessed value of $11,500. The City of Gardner's 2012 mill levy is 31.140. The approximate property tax for this home would be $358.11. (11,500 / 1000 x 31.140). For commercial property valued at $10,000,000, the approximate property tax would be $77,850 (2,500,000 / 1000 x 31.140).

Provided is a 23 year history of Gardner's City Property Tax Rates.
