Maintenance Worker (Public Works – Water Treatment) - Salary Range: $15.19 – 22.06/hr – To perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and minor electrical repairs of the city’s water facilities primary operating equipment. Requires high school diploma or GED with minimum one (1) year experience in operation and/or maintenance of water facilities and equipment, skilled maintenance or construction, and/or operation of equipment, electronic or mechanical, similar to that of the assignment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability and skill. Possession of a valid commercial drivers license (CDL) or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Possession of a Class I Water Plant Operator License from the State of Kansas within eighteen (18) months of hire. Hours: Evenings & Weekends. Water Plant Operator (Public Works – Water Treatment) – Salary Range: $17.71 – $25.73/hr. – To perform skilled and specialized work in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water treatment plants. Requires high school diploma or GED, and possession of Kansas Class I Water Plant Operator certification or the ability to attain it within a 12 month period; previous experience or course work in water treatment is desired; or the equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, with a minimum of one year experience in operation and maintenance of a water production plant, storage facilities, inlet structures, towers and pumping stations. A fully trained operator will hold a Class IV Water Plant Operator certification from the State of Kansas. Requires possession of a valid Kansas driver’s license with good driving record. Network Administrator (Administration)
– Salary: Up to $86,232/yr. (EXEMPT) – Responsible for the overall management of the City’s information technology division, and provides planning for future technology needs. This technical position recommends alternative process and procedures for the efficient and effective use of computer and peripheral equipment. This position supervises the Information Technology Specialist. Requires a BA in computer science or a closely related field with 7-10 years extensive experience in computer operations, including network design and implementation, personal computers, and equipment operations, server experience, and system backup and recovery practices; or any combination of education and experience that has provided the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Chief of Police (Police)
- Starting Salary commensurate with experiene and qualifications and includes a benefit package. - To lead and manage a police department in a rapidly growing and dynamic city in Johnson County, KS. The city is seeking a respected and professional hands-on leader and manager well versed in the latest techniques of law enforcement who will collaborate with other Kansas City metropolitan law enforcement agencies and work effectively, hand-in-hand with department officers and staff. The next Chief should possess a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Criminology, or an equivalent field; a Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Utility Director (Utilities
) - Salary up to $107,892/yr. - To operate, implement, plan and direct a comprehensive utility program that will insure sound planning, maintenance and service to the public for water, wastewater and electric systems. The director will assist the City Administrator and other city officials in determining overall policy and direction for the City utility programs; administer all functions to include budgeting, scheduling and coordination, capital improvements, implementation, planning, personnel, and long and short range projects for the utilities. This position serves as a key member of the City Administrator’s management team. Gardner is a growing and progressive community located in southwestern Johnson County within the Kansas City metropolitan area. Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in engineering, public administration, management or related field and ten (10) years of increasingly responsible management experience in engineering and the utility industry. Proven track record of leadership and employee involvement. Excellent judgment and decision making skills. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively motivate others.
