Maintenance Worker Electric (Utility) - Hiring Range: $17.16 - $21.46/hr. - The Maintenance Worker (Electric) performs semi-skilled work related to the construction and maintenance of the electric system.  High school diploma or GED. Minimum one (1) year experience in semi-skilled maintenance or construction, and/or operation of equipment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability and skills to include operation of equipment such as back hoe, mini excavator, hydro excavator, boring machine, utility locating machine, etc as outlined in the job description. Requires the possession of a valid Kansas (Class A) Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire date; and a good driving record. Hours:  M-F; 6:30A.M – 3:30P.M. Application Deadline:  10/9/15 
Planning Technician (Business & Economic Development) - Hiring Range: $17.16 - $21.46/hr. - The Planning Technician provides technical and clerical support to the Business & Economic Development Director, Chief Planner and other departmental staff.  Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration or a related field.  Education or experience demonstrating an ability to read and interpret maps, site and construction plans.  At least one (1) year of work experience demonstrating aptitude and skill for customer service, detail-oriented work, and working as part of a team.  Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.Hours: M-F; 8-5. Grant Program Coordinator (Finance)Hiring Range:  $54,336 – $67,914/yr. Exempt - The Grant Program Coordinator will be responsible for finding and successfully writing grant applications, as well as developing and implementing a comprehensive grants compliance program that will ensure that the City complies with all State and Federal grant requirements, maintains expenditures within established budgets, and establishes and maintains compliant and efficient records management.  Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, communications or related field.  At least five years of experience with the administration, writing and management of Grants.  Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Police Officer (Police Department) - Hiring Range:  $19.74 – $24.68/hr. – Looking for a rewarding career in law enforcement and have a positive impact on the community of Gardner, KS?  Join the Gardner Police Department, where you can serve and protect nearly 20,000 citizens.  Officers perform general duty police work consisting of patrol work on an assigned shift, preliminary investigation and miscellaneous duties incidental thereto.  Requirements include Bachelor or Master’s Degree preferred, but will accept graduation from a standard high school; supplemented by training of a certified law enforcement academy or center; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability and skill.  Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.  Physical and mental fitness required, and at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment. Staff Engineer - Compliance (Utilities) - Hiring Range:  $62,208 – $77,760/yr. Exempt - The Engineer has overall responsibility for the design, development, implementation, reporting and tracking of the Utilities Department compliance program. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is desired; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Minimum of at least five (5) years experience in the power generation industry and/or Municipal utilities.  Experience working with regulatory and compliance programs in the power generation industry and/or Municipal utilities.  Experience providing direction, consultation, and knowledge of SPP market rules and regulations. Experience working with and knowledge of NERC/FERC/EPA/EIA standards.  Must have a valid driver's license.  Licensure in the state of Kansas as a Professional Engineer (PE) within two years of employment.  Application Deadline:  Open Until Filled

Utility Manager (Utilities) - Hiring Range:  Up to $101,970/yr. – EXEMPT - The City of Gardner KS is accepting applications for the position of Utility Manager.  Under the general supervision of the Utilities Director, this position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Utilities Department (Water, Wastewater or Electric Divisions). Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Professional Engineer (PE), or within six months of employment.  Minimum of seven years experience in water, wastewater or electric power production and distribution, preferably in the municipal public sector, or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, ability and skill. Comprehensive knowledge and project management of the principles and practices of the design, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.  Thorough knowledge of materials, equipment, processes, and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of water, wastewater and electric plants.  Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.  Application Deadline:  Open Until Filled
