Customer Service Represtentative -(Parks&Recreation) - Hiring Range: $12.88 – $16.10/hr. - Under the supervision of the Recreation Specialist, the Customer Service Representative is responsible for assisting the public with inquiries, registrations, reservations and payments received in person, by telephone, and online.  High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years’ experience in a related position, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the appropriate knowledge, abilities, and skills.  Must have a valid driver’s license.  Hours: M-F; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Application Deadline:  08/07/15  

Customer Services Representative -(Finance) - Hiring Range: $12.88 – $16.10/hr – The City of Gardner is accepting applications for a Customer Service Representative to assist the public with inquiries, registrations and payments received in person and by telephone and e-mail.  The position will work under the supervision of the Customer Service Manager.  Requires high school diploma or GED and 1 – 2 years experience in a related field.  Hours M-F; 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM with Wednesday evenings as required.  Application Deadline:  7/31/15

Maintenance Worker  - Electric (Utilities) - Hiring Range: $17.16 – 21.46/hr. The Maintenance Worker (Electric) performs semi-skilled work related to the construction and maintenance of the electric system.  High school diploma or GED. Minimum one (1) year experience in semi-skilled maintenance or construction, and/or operation of equipment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability and skills. Requires the possession of a valid Kansas (Class A) Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire date; and a good driving record.  Hours:  M-F; 6:30A.M – 3:30P.M.. Staff Engineer - Compliance (Utilities) - Hiring Range:  $62,208 – $77,760/yr. Exempt - The Engineer has overall responsibility for the design, development, implementation, reporting and tracking of the Utilities Department compliance program. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is desired; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Minimum of at least five (5) years experience in the power generation industry and/or Municipal utilities.  Experience working with regulatory and compliance programs in the power generation industry and/or Municipal utilities.  Experience providing direction, consultation, and knowledge of SPP market rules and regulations. Experience working with and knowledge of NERC/FERC/EPA/EIA standards.  Must have a valid driver's license.  Licensure in the state of Kansas as a Professional Engineer (PE) within two years of employment.  Application Deadline:  Open Until Filled; First Review date 7/31/15

Building Inspector (Business & Economic Development) - Hiring Range:  $19.74 – $24.68/hr. - Primary duties are to review plans, including reading blue prints and technical diagrams, conduct field inspections in areas of responsibility of commercial and residential property development for the purpose of obtaining compliance with city-adopted codes, ordinance, and plan approvals relating to building safety. The position entails applying the technical provisions found in the building codes and associated standards, as well as other applicable ordinances related to the construction industry Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and four (4) years experience in Building Trades, Inspection, and/or Plans examiner; or Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree with a major in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with two (2) years of experience. Must have ICC Residential or Commercial Building, Electrical, and Mechanical or Plumbing Inspector certifications. Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Planning Technician (Business & Economic Development) - Hiring Range:  $17.16 - $21.46/hr.  The Planning Technician provides technical and clerical support to the Business & Economic Development Director, Chief Planner and other departmental staff.  Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration or a related field.  Education or experience demonstrating an ability to read and interpret maps, site and construction plans.  At least one (1) year of work experience demonstrating aptitude and skill for customer service, detail-oriented work, and working as part of a team.  Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.  Hours:  M-F; 8-5. Utility Manager (Utilities) - Hiring Range:  Up to $101,970/yr – EXEMPT - The City of Gardner KS is accepting applications for the position of Utility Manager.  Under the general supervision of the Utilities Director, this position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Utilities Department (Electric, Water and Wastewater Divisions). Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Professional Engineer (PE), or within six months of employment.  Minimum of seven years experience in water, wastewater or electric power production and distribution, preferably in the municipal public sector, or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, ability and skill. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of the design, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.  Thorough knowledge of materials, equipment, processes, and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of water, wastewater and electric plants.  Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.  Application Deadline:  Open Until Filled
