Public Safetly Officer

Gardner Public Safety Department is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of Public Safety Officer for potential future openings. Applicant must perform general police, fire and emergency medical services work, with an emphasis on police duties. Responsibilities consist of patrol duties on an assigned shift, preliminary investigations, and miscellaneous incidental duties. The work may also involve an element of personal danger during some situations.

Position requires initiative and discretion in emergency situations. Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to pass an extensive background investigation, an employment physical and drug screen and possession a valid driver's license is required. This job requires physical and mental fitness to perform the essential duties of a Public Safety Officer. Preference is given to persons with prior experience and certifications. Starting salary is $36,840 per year plus benefits.
