Students will receive instruction in water safety, public relations, facility operations, water exercise, teamwork, leadership skills, basic work skills, Lifeguarding skills (including in water rescue techniques: spinal extrication using backboard, duck pluck, deep water rescue, conscious and unconscious), CPR and First Aid. A waiver for participation and medical release form must be signed before or on the first day of class. Students must be 11 to 15 years of age and be able to swim 50 yards using crawl or breaststroke. Registration forms may be picked up at the swimming pool or the Gardner Parks and Recreation Customer Service Center.
Bring Daily: bathing suit, towel, t-shirt/sweatshirt, snacks, water bottle, whistle and goggles if needed.
